Several years ago my mom was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that has limited her mobility and makes getting to a yoga studio and practicing a hot vinyasa power class difficult to access. So when I started my yoga teacher training I was therefore very attuned to how every pose should be approached with an open mind, and how I could make a pose more accessible to a wider group of people. I expanded my knowledge with continued self-study on accessible yoga practices including Jivana Heyman’s guidance on the subject. I want to make yoga possible for my mom, and for everybody that can’t make it to a yoga studio, especially if finances or accessibility (or both) make that a challenge. I hope to bring the peace and contentment that yoga has provided for me and my mother to everyone.
